Mumbai: Intense rainfall in Mumbai led to severe flooding, resulting in the closure of Andheri subway, according to city officials. Sadly, a man lost his life when a tree fell in Malad. While local train services were mostly unaffected, there were minor delays. To avoid water accumulation, Mumbai Traffic Police redirected vehicles away from Andheri Subway, and some BEST buses had to take alternate routes at Ketki pada in Dahisar East. The BMC recorded 26 instances of fallen trees, 15 cases of short-circuits, and five incidents of house collapses or partial collapses within the past 24 hours. Thane city also experienced flooding and incidents of walls and houses collapsing. The IMD predicted more rain with moderate to heavy showers in specific areas. Despite the heavy rainfall, the BMC plans to implement a 10% reduction in water supply starting from July 1 due to critically low water reserves. Municipal authorities assessed the situation at various locations, including the Mithi river bank and the ongoing construction of the coastal road. In Thane, a woman sustained injuries in a chawl collapse, while a protection wall in a housing society collapsed without causing harm to anyone.
